Can we just Skip September?
I need it out of my mind.

Hot on the heels of their debut release, Chloe Marks & The Mayhem are back with their electrifying second single, "Skip September," dropping July 9. Blending the fierce heart of Americana country with smoky blues and gritty rock, this track continues the band’s bold exploration of modern life through vivid lyricism and genre-defying soundscapes.

Led by powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Chloe Marks, the Brisbane-based five-piece have quickly established themselves as a must-watch act in Australia’s contemporary country scene. Following the heartfelt storytelling of their debut single "Carolina," the new track pushes emotional boundaries with a moodier, more rebellious edge.

“‘Skip September’ is about those moments in life when you just want to fast-forward through the hardest parts” Chloe says. “It’s about remembering moments of grief, and trying your hardest to resist the urge to hit pause or skip altogether. I wrote it during a time of deep transition and my biggest life struggles, and my aim was for that rawness to come through.”

Produced by Michael Moko, "Skip September" is a sonic evolution for the band, pairing Chloe's evocative vocals with a rich, textured backdrop of electric guitar, driving basslines, earth moving drums and layered harmonies. It’s a track that stings and soothes in equal measure.

With an album in the works and a growing list of live shows lighting up venues across Brisbane and beyond, Chloe Marks & The Mayhem are proving that they’re not just here for a moment, they’re here to make one.
